Olivia Pets Care (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a website about everyday dog and cat care, training, feeding, litter and behaviour, published at https://oliviapetscare.online. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language, because privacy should not need a law degree to understand. By using this website, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Who We Are
Olivia Pets Care is a small, independent website run by Olivia, a lifelong dog and cat owner. The site publishes practical guides that help everyday pet parents solve common problems with their dogs and cats, from feeding and training to litter boxes and indoor life. Our website address is https://oliviapetscare.online, and you can contact us at any time by email at hello@oliviapetscare.online. We do not run a shop, we do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information we need to run the website and to answer you when you get in touch. There are three main kinds:
- Information you give us directly. If you email us at hello@oliviapetscare.online, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message, such as your name or details about your pet. If you leave a comment on the site, we collect the name, email address and website you enter, along with the comment itself.
- Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our hosting provider and security tools may record basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, the time of your visit and the website that referred you. This is standard for almost every website on the internet.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Like most websites, we use cookies — small files stored on your device — to remember your preferences and to understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings, as explained below.
We do not ask for payment details, government identification numbers, or sensitive personal information, and you should never send us such details by email or in a comment.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Comments are public, so please do not include personal information in a comment that you would not want the whole world to see. We may moderate comments, and we may remove comments that are spam, abusive, off-topic, or that contain personal information about other people.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit. We use cookies for a few practical purposes: to remember your preferences (for example, if you have accepted our cookie notice), to keep the site secure, to understand which pages are popular, and to make advertising work if we show ads in the future. Some cookies are set by us, and some are set by third-party services we use, such as analytics and advertising providers. You can delete cookies or block them in your browser settings at any time. If you block cookies, parts of the site may not work as well — for example, your preferences may not be remembered — but you can still read our guides.
Google Advertising Cookies
We may show advertising on this website in the future, including through Google AdSense. We do not currently run Google AdSense, and no AdSense code is active on the site today, but this section explains what would happen if we do. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our visitors based on their visit to our site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com, or by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. If you choose to opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised to you. For more information about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, please see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Analytics
We use analytics tools, including Google Analytics through Site Kit by Google, to understand how visitors use Olivia Pets Care — for example, which guides are most read, how long people stay on a page, and which search terms bring people here. Analytics tools collect information such as your IP address, browser and device details, and the pages you visit, usually through cookies. This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally. We use it only to improve the site: to write more of the guides people find useful and to fix pages that are not working well. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by using your browser’s tracking protection settings.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, or articles from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited the other website directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We have no control over those third-party sites, and their privacy policies apply to them, not this policy.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited situations: with our hosting provider (Hostinger) and other service providers who help us run the website, such as security, spam-protection and analytics providers — they may process data only on our instructions and only to provide their service; with Google and other advertising partners, if we show ads in the future, as described above; if we are required to do so by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our visitors or the public; and if we ask for your permission first. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How Long We Retain Your Data
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so that we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If you email us, we keep your message for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation, and then we delete it when it is no longer needed. Analytics data is kept in aggregated form for as long as our analytics account retains it. Cookies expire after a period set by the service that placed them, and you can delete them sooner in your browser. If we ever delete the site or stop running it, we will delete the personal information we hold.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have left comments on this site, or if you have emailed us, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You also have the right to ask us to correct information we hold about you if it is wrong, to ask us to limit how we use your information, and to object to our use of it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To make any of these requests, email us at hello@oliviapetscare.online. We will respond within a reasonable time, and we may ask you to confirm your identity before we share or delete your data, so that we do not hand your information to the wrong person.
Children’s Privacy
Olivia Pets Care is written for adults who care for pets. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country, if that is higher). If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@oliviapetscare.online and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add a new service, start showing ads, or change how we use analytics. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may also add a notice on the website. We encourage you to check this page occasionally so that you always know how we handle your information. Your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or about how we handle your personal information, please contact us by email at hello@oliviapetscare.online. We read every message and we will do our best to answer you promptly.
